Nana witch!

Here's Nana at the door, waiting to greet the kids. She's dressed as a scary witch. She dressed the same at the school that day too - do you think she scared the high school kids?

A Haunting we will go...

Papa came out trick or treating this year with us, while Nana stayed at the house and manned the door and handed out treats. Papa brought his special hat with him.
Here we are, ready to scare up some treats!
Our house decorated with pumpkins. Scary stuff!

Halloween parade!

Here are some pictures from this year's day care parade. As you can see, Rachel and at least one of her friends were Cinderella this year.
This year, Elliot actually walked in the parade. However, he got a little bit hot in his costume.

Van Ruleduinen pumpkin family

Here are this year's Van Ruleduinen pumkin family. We thought we would try out a pumpkin totem to see how it might work.
Dennis and Rachel's "vision" clashed on the spectacular skull pumpkin. In the end, the pumpkin was given "eyelashes."

Pumpkins shoes!

Dahling, don't you wish you could buy a pair from Paris too? They only come in one colour and are very seasonal.

Mom and Dad were busy carving pumpkins on the table (in order to keep sharp objects out of small hands). Rachel had just finished giving Elliot what for about which direction he was scooping the pumpkin goop in when she shrieked "Look at Elliot." When we turned around, here is what we saw. He grinned up at us and proclaimed "Shoes!"

Pumpkin carving extravaganza!

This year we thought we would go all out and get seven pumpkins to care (three larger, four smaller).
The kids key goal was to scoop the goop out.
Oh and maybe scoop the goop back in a bit.
Eventually Rachel gave Elliot what for on which direction the goop needed to be scooped.

Happy Diwali!

In late October we joined in on the neighbourhood Diwali Festival. It was raining. Rachel kneecapped a number of folks with her umbrella.
Ellliot's favourite food is butter chicken, so attending the festival just seemed right somehow.

The princess and the dragon

The kids went to the local Halloween party held up the street again this year. Rachel decided she wanted to be Cinderella this year - with all the accouterments, including fancy shoes. (Take a guess how many princesses there were at the party...)
Elliot was a dragon. It was a good opportunity to practice his stomping and roaring (not that he needs any).
We had a ton of fun. And we returned home before anyone turned into a pumpkin.

Here the kids are modelling their Halloween shirts given to them by Nana and Papa.

Stumped!

The girls had some fun climbing up on some of the stumps and playing queen of the castle.

A thanksgiving dip...

The Blaine girls went for a frosty Thanksgiving dip in Jordan - after helping their Uncle Dennis push their mom into the lake! (unfortunately I was to slow to catch that moment!)

Playing in Grandma's fountain

Grandma Van Staalduinen is going to wonder why there are so many rocks in her fountain next summer. A gremlin put them in there.
