Our house

For anyone who hasn't had a chance to see where we live, this is a nice fall shot of our little house on Daniel Avenue in the Wellington Village / Champlain Park neighbourhood. As you can see, I've done some amateur landscaping and gardening, but there's a lot to do. Posted by Picasa

Rachel discovers the joys of underwater

Dennis takes Rachel to aquatots every Friday morning, and part of the routine is submerging the child fully to take away their fear of being underwater.
Well, Rachel HATED it the first few times, but now she comes up smiling -- sputtering, but smiling. As a matter of fact, in this pic taken with classmate Rick's underwater camera, you can almost see her smiling. . . almost.

More aquatots

And speaking of smiles...
Here's Rachel and Dennis at aquatots this morning. Rachel is working on her floating technique and making friends with a strange new ducky. Posted by Picasa

Getting ready for Halloween!

Rachel is really getting into the spirit of things for her first Halloween! Next weekend we will carve up some pumpkins and we might try taking her to a few houses. And of course we will be ready to greet all the little ghoulies and ghosties and long legged beasties who come to our door (boo!). Special thanks to Grandma Rule for the Tigger costume :) She matches the pumpkins well, non? Posted by Picasa

Rachel's first fall

The weather is getting colder and we are now dressing Rachel in her fall clothes. We have been on a few fall hikes at the cottage and in the Gatineaus. Posted by Picasa

Micro-wave

Rachel's latest "tricks" include waving, pointing, clapping and giving the "YAY" signal. We are working on the "high five." Woo-hoo!Pointing has been particularly useful as we can now tell what it is she might want, and give her new words for objects (not that she can say them yet...) The trick is trying to figure out what she is pointing at. Posted by Picasa

Stand and be counted...

For the past few months, Rachel has been standing and cruising along the furniture. She is getting braver and letting go with one hand and sometimes even two hands - standing alone for several seconds at a time. And she can really motor with the Quasimodo-bum-scoot as well (usually with a toy or two in hand). We will have to nail everything down once she starts walking. Posted by Picasa

Rachel on the crawl

Here's Rachel showing her "classic" crawling technique on the floor at Dave and Molly's house. The picture was taken in September, so she's about 8 months old in this shot. Posted by Picasa

Dad's home!

Dennis gets home from work - as you can see Rachel is thrilled to see him! Posted by Picasa

Indian Summer

One of the last nice days of the fall. Warm enough to be wearing summer clothes. Jeanette tried to take Rachel's picture quickly before she could put sticks, grass, leaves, dirt, or poor unsuspecting ants in her mouth. She was somewhat successful... Posted by Picasa

Rachel's upsidedown world

When she is out in her stroller, Rachel enjoys looking at the world around her - including the person pushing the stroller. Posted by Picasa

You expect me to eat this?

Rachel expresses an opinion about the menu of the day. Evidently orange stuff with a medley of white goop is not what mademoiselle ordered on this particular day. Posted by Picasa

Rachel gets into her food

Rachel has now started finger foods, and like any true gourmand, has a preference for taking it in by osmosis (as well as through the mouth). Current favourite finger foods are the ever popular "o's," cheese toast and bananas. Posted by Picasa
